What are we looking for?
Our innovation vision and the overarching process is set up around collaboration and co-creation of products, services and solutions that address some of the key challenges in the rail industry outlined by the Rail Technical Strategy. We are looking for ideas that can help us overcome some of the biggest challenges as well as ideas which improve the performance of our customer assets across all rail clusters: Singalling, Power & Electrification, Permanent Way, Propulsion, Rolling Stock & Depots, Plant & Equipment. Below are some of our focus themes:
Decarbonisation
New initiatives and solutions that can identify, monitor and reduce carbon emissions during manufacturing, operations, maintenance and refurbishment of all rolling stock and infrastructure assets through alternate and renewal materials, energy and processes.
Modernisation
Innovation ideas that transform the in-fleet rolling stock, depot maintenance and the rail infrastructure through modern applications of digital concepts resulting in a safe and efficient operation of the whole network.
Optimisation
New concepts and methodologies around enhanced overhaul and repair mechanisms that extend the life of existing assets within the rolling stock and infrastructure network through various physical and digital upgrades such as additive manufacturing, whole life asset performance monitoring and predictive maintenance.
